Bio
My educational experience:
I am a Franklin County native. I graduated valedictorian from FCHS in 1998. I received a Bachelors of Education from Middle Tennessee State University in 2003 with a major in Political Science and minors in History and Education. Continuing my education, I received a Masters of Education from Middle Tennessee State University in 2019. I have been teaching in Franklin County for 17 years and have spent 16 of those years as a middle school teacher at South Middle School. I was awarded the school, district, and regional Teacher of the Year for the 2022-2023 school year. I also received the VFW Citizenship Education Award at the local, regional, and state levels for the 2022-2023 school year.
My goals for this year:
My goals for this year is to create state aligned rigorous lesson plans while creating a welcoming and safe classroom environment for all learners.  As a recent ICivics educator, I plan to introduce many civics concepts within the classroom setting. Our 7th-grade curriculum includes learning about the Byzantine Empire, East Asia, Southwest Asia and North Africa, West Africa, Middle Ages, Early Modern Europe, Protestant Reformation, Scientific Revolution, Indigenous Civilizations of the Americas, and the Age of Exploration.
Spending time with my family is very important to me. We love hiking, camping, and playing games. We spend a lot of our time visiting historical places. My other hobbies include singing karaoke, playing the piano, reading historical nonfiction, and creative writing. I also love watching Netflix, The Office, and The Walking Dead.
